The American Public Works Association (APWA) announced that Susan M. Hann, P.E., AICP, ICMA-CM, deputy city manager for the city of Palm Bay, Fla., was recently appointed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC) by EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson.
Hann, who is the APWA director-at-large of transportation on the board of directors, will serve on the approximately 30-member Federal Advisory Committee with other locally elected and appointed officials, including mayors, county executives, city managers, commissioners and others, as well as state and other interests. She will serve a two-year term.
The LGAC provides advice and recommendations that assist the EPA in developing a stronger partnership with local governments through building state and local capacity to deliver environmental services and programs.
Hann and members of the Advisory Committee will provide recommendations to the EPA on a broad range of topics including regulatory innovation and reform, environmental protection tools, pollution prevention, new technologies, performance measurement and appropriate roles of the various governmental levels in efficient and coordinated environmental management.
