The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) will lead a trade mission to the U.S. from June 8 through 18 to showcase Australian expertise in water conservation to industry experts and key decision makers in state and federal governments.
Many parts of the U.S. are currently facing acute water resource challenges, and water conservation is recognized as one of the major environmental issues facing the nation. The delegation of eight of Australia's most innovative companies with solutions in the water management field will visit areas heavily impacted by recent drought (Atlanta for the American Water Works Association's annual conference and Phoenix). They will also meet with national water agencies and international development agencies in Washington, D.C.
"Globally, nations are seeking new 'next-generation' technologies and approaches to ensure efficient and effective use and reuse of our most precious resource," said Tom Mollenkopf, chief executive of the Australian Water Association. "Australia has had to confront critical water management challenges earlier than most other countries and is well placed to assist with insights and solutions."
"As the driest inhabited continent on Earth, Australia has developed significant expertise in all aspects of water conservation, from manufacturing, to systems integration, smart water technologies and consultancy," said Alison McGuigan-Lewis, Australia's senior trade commissioner in Washington, D.C. "As a world leader in this field, Australian companies are already supporting the U.S. market with a wide array of high-quality products and services, including smart water sensors, grey water recycling systems, dual-flush toilets and water optimization software."
