  • I-93 Project to Use UNH Storm Water Treatment Design

    Gravel wetland treatment basin to support environmental permit requirements

    A University of New Hampshire (UNH) storm water treatment design will serve as the basis for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation's (DOT) I-93 widening project, according to The Eagle-Tribune.

    UNH Stormwater Center staff member Robert Roseen created the design, a gravel wetland treatment basin, which DOT staff plan to utilize throughout the project to remove sediment from storm water.

    The 20-mile widening initiative involved permits requiring extra environmental protection efforts.

    "I've seen some really dirty water coming in," Jonathan Bradstreet of the DOT told The Eagle-Tribune, "and it has always been crystal clear coming out."
