  • IECA Announces McCullah's Board of Directors Resignation

Sandy Matthews to serve remainder of term
    July 4, 2008

The International Erosion Control Association (IECA) has announced that John McCullah, CPESC, has resigned from the IECA Board of Directors. The board has appointed Sandy Mathews to serve the remainder of McCullah’s term, which ends in February 2010.

McCullah, owner of Salix Applied Earthcare , Redding, Calif., and well known within the industry for “Dirt Time,” his erosion and sediment control training videos, cited his busy work schedule as the reason for his resignation. McCullah was serving his second term as the board’s marketing vice president. “I feel this is a good time to leave, we have a strong leadership and the organization is in good hands with Russ at the helm,” said McCullah of the IECA Board of Directors member and Executive Director Russ Adsit, FASLA.

“We will miss John’s insight and innovative ideas on how the association can reach a broader audience,” said Ron Faucher, CPESC, president of the IECA Board of Directors. “But we are also excited that we were able to find a qualified person like Sandy, who is willing and able to jump in. These are big shoes to fill, but I know she will do a great job.”

Mathews, a senior scientist with Larry Walker Associates, has been an active member of IECA since 2001, serving on the IECA’s Western Chapter Board of Directors until July 2007. Mathews believes IECA’s greatest strength lies in its members and chapters. "I see being a Director on the International Board as an opportunity to help create a strategic direction that focuses on the members and Chapters,” she said.

The IECA Board of Directors is made up of nine members, each serving a three-year term. The next election will begin in July, with final ballots being tallied in November. Newly elected directors will take their seat on the board in February 2009 at IECA’s annual conference and expo, Environmental Connection 2009, to be held February 9 to 12 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev.
