Imbrium Systems has announced that its Jellyfish filter system has received interim
certification from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).
Many states look to New Jersey--which has a very stringent review and approval process--as a
benchmark to guide their own certification of new technologies. The NJDEP has done an
extensive review of the Jellyfish filter system’s features and performance attributes, including
analysis of laboratory results.
Design engineers, specifiers and contractors have been eagerly awaiting NJDEP certification of Jellyfish as a storm water treatment option. Jellyfish has been shown to remove greater than 85 percent of Sil-Co-Sil 106 fine sediment while operating at the unprecedented flow rate of 50 gal per minute per cartridge. The Jellyfish’s unique high surface area filtration tentacles are combined into lightweight, long-lasting cartridges with a much smaller footprint than other systems.
The product was launched in the spring of 2008, and it quickly received other key approvals: New
Jersey Corporation for Advanced Technology verification; the Ontario Ministry of Environment’s New Environmental Technology Evaluation certificate; and the Washington State Department of Ecology’s TAPE Pilot Use Level Designation.
