The National Ready Mixed Concrete Assn. (NRMCA) has significantly revised one of its most popular publications that details the construction of pervious concrete pavements and the benefits it provides in sustainable construction. With the support of industry practitioners, the revised text of this publication--the “NRMCA Pervious Concrete Contractor Certification Text Reference, Pub #2PPCRT”--incorporates the latest technology and standards on the installation and uses of pervious concrete. The text is a reference for the NRMCA Pervious Concrete Contractor Certification program. Suggested project checklists are also included in this revision.
The text serves as the basis for the exam for this certification program (development of the original text was sponsored by the RMC Research & Education Foundation). NRMCA is also reworking the exams used for the certification to reflect the revised content in the text. The new version of the text and exams will be applicable for persons seeking certification. The NRMCA Pervious Contractor Certification is administered by a network of local sponsoring groups. It was instituted in 2004 and has certified close to 7,000 individuals since then. Policies and technical support for the certification program are facilitated by a pervious concrete contractor certification committee.
NRMCA is offering a train-the-trainer program during NRMCA ConcreteWorks Oct. 10 to 12, in Charlotte, N.C. Local groups that administer training for the certification program are encouraged to send their course instructors to this session.
NRMCA, based in Silver Spring, M.D., represents the producers of ready-mixed concrete and the companies that provide materials, equipment and support to the industry. It conducts education, training, promotion, research, engineering, safety, environmental, technological, lobbying and regulatory programs.
