  • NSF Intl. to Highlight Emerging Water, Climate Change Issues at Conference in India

Speakers highlight new ways to address water scarcity
    January 25, 2010

NSF Intl., a developer of drinking water and sustainability standards, will be speaking on climate change and water conservation at the upcoming Aquatech India show in February. NSF Intl. works to develop standards to improve water quality for varying on site water reuse applications.

The first Aquatech India show will bring together more than 200 exhibitors and feature speakers that cover topics in water treatment such as water conservation, preventing contamination and climate change.

The economy of India is growing rapidly, with a combined annual growth rate of more than 10%. All economic activity is based on the supply and quality of water, which could be disrupted by climate change, the organization said. NSF Intl.’s Malcolm Fox will speak about the effects of climate change on water resources, and Tom Bruursema will give an update on current water reuse technologies and standards.

Fox, climate change expert and director of NSF Intl.’s sustainability programs, will give an overview of how climate change will affect regulatory costs, technological innovation and the availability of clean water.

Bruursema, drinking water treatment expert and general manager of NSF Intl.’s Drinking Water Treatment Units Certification program, will provide an overview of public health standards that NSF Intl. has been developing for the evaluation of on site reuse treatment technologies for graywater, blackwater, rainwater and storm water.

The two-day conference will run from Feb. 3 to 5 at the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Center, Hall No. 18, Gate 7, in New Delhi, India.
