The PBSJ Corp. 2009 Project Awards were presented at the company’s annual meeting in Tampa, Fla. In total, 14 project managers were recognized for their work on 10 notable projects and two innovative applications of technology. The awards were selected by a panel of 10 employee judges, and distributed in three project award categories: Under $2 Million, $2 to $50 Million, and Over $50 Million, and an Innovative Application of Technology category.
In the project categories recipients were recognized with either the National Award for first place, the Excellence Award for second place or the Value Award for third.
In the Under $2 Million category, the National Award went to the I-70/Eagle County Traffic Incident Management Plan, and Project Manager Allan Brown. The Excellence Award went to the Georgia DOT Truss Bridge Inspections and Load Ratings, Statewide, Georgia, and Project Manager Cindy Matyas. And the Value Award was given to the Florida Derelict Vessel Removals State of Florida Waterways and Project Manager Rick Harter.
The National Award for projects $2 to $50 Million was awarded to Gulf Blvd., Clearwater, Fla., and project managers Kevin Callahan and Ray Simpson. In this same category the Excellence Award was given to the Robinson Preserve Habitat, Manatee County, Fla., and Project Manager John Eash. The Value Award was given to the George Bush Intercontinental Runway 9-27, Houston, Texas, and Project Manager Justin P. Jones.
In the Over $50 Million category, the National Award winner was an environmental report critical supplement prepared for a confidential client. Kim Fitzgibbons served as project manager. A tie resulted in two Excellence Awards in the Over $50 Million category, and included the I-95 Managed Lanes, Phase IA (95 Express), Miami-Dade County, Florida, project, managed by Jennifer Tsien, and the Bolling Air Force Base, Privatization of Military Family Housing, Washington, D.C., project, managed by Mark Ramseur and Kevin Siegel. And the Value Award in this category was given for the John Land Apopka Expressway, Apopka, Fla., and Project Manager R. Keith Jackson.
In first place for the Innovative Application of Technology Award was the Flood Map Desktop for ArcGIS 9.2 and Project Manager Joshua Price. And in second place was FAST (Florida’s Application for Setting Targets) and Project Manager Rhonda Taylor.
