The Water Environment Federation (WEF) will present TMDL 2009: Combining Science and Management to Restore Impaired Waters from Aug. 9 to 12 at the Hilton Minneapolis.
Co-sponsored by the Central States Water Environment Association, with support from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Advisory Committee on Water Information and the Water Environment Research Foundation, this conference will focus on the Clean Water Act (CWA) and the full scope of pollutants that impact our nation’s water bodies.
The TMDL [total maximum daily load] requirements of the CWA play a pivotal role in how and if the nation meets its water quality goals. Recognizing the importance and continually evolving nature of the program, this conference is designed to help water professionals, states, tribes and local organizations develop and implement effective TMDL programs by providing access to the latest tools and information. Most importantly, it provides a forum for stakeholders from all sides of the issue to discuss and understand each other’s positions.
TMDL 2009 will include podium presentations, panel discussions, and workshops on the following topics:
Pollutant-specific TMDLs;
Water quality standards;
Modeling;
Storm water and nonpoint source issues;
Stakeholder involvement and public participation; and
Regulatory, policy and implementation issues.
The registration deadline for TMDL 2009 is July 29. For more information, visit the Conferences and Training section of www.wef.org.
