Aqua-Aerobic Systems Metawater merger

Aqua-Aerobic Systems Inc. and Metawater Co. Ltd. formally announced a merger agreement to their employees and shareholders. The merger will place Aqua-Aerobic Systems Inc., including its subsidiary Mecana Umwelttechnik, under Metawater USA Inc. (MUSA), the company’s U.S. subsidiary with current operations in Rutherford, N.J.

Aqua-Aerobic Systems Inc., with its primary base in the U.S., is an applied engineering company specializing in total water management solutions in the areas of aeration/mixing, biological processes, cloth media filtration, membranes and process control. The privately owned company operates from its corporate headquarters in Loves Park, Ill., where it currently employs 125 individuals in administration, engineering and research and development, sales and marketing, operations, and customer service.

Aqua-Aerobic Systems Inc. has served the water and wastewater industry in both the municipal and industrial markets, including drinking water, storm water and reuse/recycle, since 1969. Through cooperative partnerships, the company has expanded its products and services geographically into other parts of the world including Australia, China, India and the U.K.

The Metawater Group is a comprehensive engineering company engaged in the water and environmental business field with a presence in Japan’s water and wastewater market. The company was formed in 2008 as the first comprehensive engineering firm in the water and environment field through a merger of the water and environmental subsidiaries of NGK Insulators and Fuji Electric. The company’s technologies include ozone treatment systems, ceramic membranes and high-rate filtration systems. Metawater has supplied ozone generators to the U.S. market for more than 17 years.

Aligning with its growth strategy, the group has positioned the overseas market as its growth field and aims to enhance its business platform and expand business scale within North America and Europe through strategic alliances while making efforts to build a business base in Asia and other regions through public and private partnerships.

Through this merger, MUSA will acquire additional Aqua-Aerobic Systems resources including additional established relationships with sales agents, consulting firms and contractors to support its growth strategy and strengthen its business through expansion into the U.S. and other markets. The collaboration provides Aqua-Aerobic Systems with a larger platform to expand internationally and enables Aqua-Aerobic Systems and the Metawater Group to gain access to each company’s technologies that will enhance respective product offering portfolios.
