Combined Sewer Overflow

The discharge of wastewater and storm water from a combined sewer system (when storm water and sanitary sewage run through the same lines) directly into the environment, most commonly caused by heavy rainfall events, which can cause a massive influx of storm water into sewerage lines, and therefore a sewer overflow.
