Using Technology to Manage Storm Water

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. EST

Participants will earn One Professional Development Hour (PDH).

Webinar Overview:

This webinar will focus on the new technologies being used in the storm water industry to gather and understand data, train staff, and comply with permits. Technical considerations will be discussed, including developing robust, practical Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) using online tools; collecting data via real-time monitoring and instrumentation; managing multiple sites using tablets and cloud-based apps; leveraging software and asset management solutions for greater efficiency on and off the jobsite; and using drones to quickly and easily map and photograph large watersheds.

Examples of mobile and online technologies that can be used to more efficiently conduct and track inspections and develop SWPPPs for construction and industrial sites will be covered. Case studies that resulted in significant time and cost savings will be discussed, and some techniques for applying these tools to other projects will be covered.

Lastly, this presentation will provide a high-level overview of the latest academic technologies utilized in the administration of both face-to-face and online learning programs. Participants will get a behind-the-scenes impression of what it takes to design, develop and deliver high-quality, cutting-edge academic programs.
