Dropping By #39: Oakland County's New Storm Water Design Standards

Dropping By #39: Oakland County's New Storm Water Design Standards

This week, Katie Johns, managing editor of Storm Water Solutions, is joined by the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash. Nash recently announced plans to implement new storm water engineer design standards in the county, addressing post-construction storm water runoff controls required under the NPDES Phase II MS4 permit requirements.

The standards come after more than 40 meetings with neighboring counties, communities and stakeholders and will take effect on May 31. They will apply to any new or redevelopment projects that are 1 acre or greater, or are part of a larger common development, and connect directly to an Oakland County drain.
