SWS 2020 Top Projects- Whirligig Station Parking Lot Improvements

In this episode, SWS Managing Editor Katie Johns is joined by Aaron Lowell, StormTrap territory manager in North and South Carolina, Noah Parsons, Stormwater Compliance Specialist for the city of Wilson, North Carolina, and Bill Bass, Public Works Director for the city of Wilson, from another one of the 2020 Top Project winners – the Whirligig Station Parking Lot Improvement project.

An old and undersized storm water infrastructure system in downtown Wilson was prone to flooding. This project sought to alleviate pressure in the current system, provide flood relief and improve the quality of storm water leaving the site. To do so, a large underground sand-filter system was designed and installed that would help mitigate flooding issues and protect local waterways.

The videos in this Top Project series will be presented in no particular order, except our final video, which will feature our #1 2020 Top Project.
