SWS Video Series #2: MWRD & the Space to Grow Partnership

In this new video series, Storm Water Solutions (SWS) is bringing you industry news, trends and more right to your computer screen. Keep up with the industry from the comfort of your home or office. We’ll do the rest of the work, so sit back, take some notes and learn with us.

In the second interview of this series, SWS Managing Editor Katie Johns is joined by Joe Kratzer, stormwater manager and managing civil engineer for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. The two discuss the Space to Grow partnership that aims to green Chicago schoolyards. The initiative works with many of the city’s low-income neighborhoods to transform underutilized schoolyards into playgrounds and outdoor spaces. The green schoolyards replace asphalt with landscaping that absorbs rainwater, which helps address neighborhood flooding issues.
