ASCE releases technical report on LID computational methods

ASCE’s new report, “Computational Methods in Low Impact Development Stormwater Control Measures,” focuses on the approaches that address hydrologic and hydraulic processes.

The American Society of Civil Engineers has released a technical report on low impact development (LID) computation methods for stormwater control.

Civil engineers use computational methods to identify LID stormwater control measures that are relevant to specific use cases. ASCE’s new report, titled “Computational Methods in Low Impact Development Stormwater Control Measures,” provides a summary of current LID computation methods.

The report focuses on the approaches that address hydrologic or hydraulic processes, such as runoff generation, infiltration, evapotranspiration, flow conveyance, and detention.

Beginning with a literature review of hydrologic and hydraulic processes at work in LID systems, the book also provides an overview of LID computational modeling, and H&H (hydrologic and hydraulic) models. It discusses the capabilities of common modeling tools and closes with case studies that cover several modeling methods.
