U.S.-based Woolpert acquires Ireland-based Murphy Geospatial

Woolpert has acquired Murphy Geospatial, a geospatial solutions company that is based in Kilcullen, Ireland.

Murphy is a family-owned company that specializes in survey, mobile and indoor mapping, asset monitoring, subsurface engineering and 3D digital twin development.

According to a press release, Murphy currently has around 400 employees spanning six offices in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Woolpert is a privately owned, U.S.-based, firm that was founded in 1911, and has been providing geospatial services for more than 50 years. They specialize in architecture and engineering as well as geospatial services.

In the press release Woolpert president Neil Churman said that the acquisition will help Woolpert focus on the expansion of their geospatial capabilities in Europe.

“Over the last four decades, Murphy Geospatial has solidified itself as an innovative geospatial partner throughout Ireland, the UK and the surrounding regions,” Churman said in the press release. Churman said the acquisition will help the companies expand their presence in Europe, and improve their offerings to customers.

CEO of Murphy Geospatial, Niall Murphy, said his team will continue to lead the company in strategic alignment with Woolpert.

Murphy stated in the press release they are “. . .thrilled to be joining forces with the Woolpert team.” Murphy believes that Woolpert is an ideal match and that he looks forward to better serving their clients and advancing the industry together with Woolpert.
